Job Description

HSE – Senior Executive

Industry: Offshore Catering and Support Services

Position Objective: To implement and monitor HSE, food safety, hygiene, and environmental standards for offshore catering operations in line with company, client, and statutory requirements.

Reporting To: HSE Manager / Operations Manager / Offshore Unit Manager, as applicable.

KEY RESULT AREAS

1. HSE Management and Compliance

  • Implement company HSE policies, offshore safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements, and client standards.
  • Conduct routine HSE inspections of galley, stores, accommodation, laundry, waste areas, and catering-controlled locations.
  • Maintain HSE records, checklists, inspection reports, corrective action trackers, and compliance documents.

2. Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation

  • Monitor HACCP, food hygiene, sanitation, pest control, cleaning schedules, and temperature control.
  • Verify safe food receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, serving, and waste handling practices.
  • Coordinate corrective actions for food safety or hygiene non-compliances with catering supervisors.

3. Risk Assessment and Incident Prevention

  • Prepare and review risk assessments, JSA, toolbox talks, and task controls for catering activities.
  • Promote reporting of hazards, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
  • Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, lessons learned, and corrective action closure.

4. Training, Awareness and Safety Culture

  • Conduct HSE, food hygiene, PPE, chemical safety, waste management, and emergency awareness training.
  • Carry out toolbox talks, safety briefings, induction support, and behavioural safety observations.

5. Environmental and Waste Management

  • Monitor segregation, storage, and disposal of food waste, general waste, recyclables, chemicals, and hazardous waste.
  • Promote reduction of waste, water use, energy use, and environmental impact within catering operations.

6. Audit, Inspection and Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct HSE, hygiene, housekeeping, accommodation, and food safety audits and inspections.
  • Support client audits and regulatory inspections; track findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions to closure.
  • Prepare periodic HSE performance reports and KPI updates.

7. Emergency Preparedness and Offshore Coordination

  • Support emergency drills, muster compliance, fire safety awareness, first aid readiness, and offshore emergency response arrangements.
  • Coordinate HSE matters with offshore management, client representatives, Chef, Camp Boss, and Medic.

Qualification

  • Degree or diploma in Science, Safety, Environmental Science, Food Safety, Hotel Management, or related field.
  • NEBOSH / IOSH / Diploma in Industrial Safety or equivalent preferred.
  • Food Safety, HACCP, First Aid, Fire Safety, COSHH, or offshore safety certification preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in HSE, QHSE, food safety, catering, hospitality, marine, oil and gas, or offshore support services.
  • Offshore catering experience preferred.
  • Experience in audits, incident reporting, risk assessments, training, and corrective action follow-up.

  • Safety-focused, disciplined, and proactive.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Calm, reliable, and detail-oriented in offshore working conditions.
  • High standards of personal hygiene, integrity, and compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of HSE systems, HACCP, food hygiene, audits, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
  • Understanding of offshore safety rules, PTW, PPE, emergency response, and client compliance requirements.
  • Good reporting, documentation, training, and MS Office skills.
  • Fluent in English; Hindi or regional language knowledge is an advantage.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Completion of planned HSE inspections, audits, training, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
  • Timely closure of incidents, non-conformities, hazards, and corrective actions.
  • Improvement in food safety, hygiene, housekeeping, waste management, and accommodation scores.
  • Accurate and timely submission of HSE reports and KPI updates.
